What got you interested in working out?
After graduating high school I did not directly enter post secondary education. I worked full time and I felt like I was spinning my wheels and not moving forward in life. I also missed playing sports so, I started going to the gym to improve myself (I was insecure only weighing in at 126lbs) and be active as recreation. In High School I played on the Football Team and sprinted on the Track Team. I played basketball, baseball and just before I started High School I received my black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Having the sports background was my gateway towards fitness combined with self improvement.
What got you interested in competing?
When I first started working out I watched many Science Based YouTubers to learn from them. Many of the people running the informative channels also competed. I admired everyone competing but, I never thought I was good enough to actually compete. Also, where I am from there were no drug tested shows and I did not want to enter a non-drug tested show. Meeting and training with Jeff Nippard in Halifax inspired me to travel and do my first show at the California Natural Muscle Mayhem.
Who was the most influential person/group that made you want to workout?
I looked up to many science based natural athletes. It was important for me to be able to reach my fitness goals (increase muscle mass) healthily and naturally. The first time I was aware of Natural Competitions was when Matt Ogus competed at the Mayhem in 2013. Other than that it is mostly self motivation since I do have passion for fitness and natural bodybuilding.
Where do you currently workout?
I am currently working out Kelowna, BC with my training partner Jeff Nippard. I am still looking around for a gym that suits me best, I only been here for 1 full day. I moved to Kelowna from Halifax (Coast to coast) so I could step up my training and train with Jeff Nippard full time.
How long have you been competing?
My first show was 2 months ago (2016 California Muscle Mayhem)

What is your most memorable moment competing so far?
The entire show at the California Muscle Mayhem was such an amazing experience. The show itself was ran very professionally, the positive atmosphere (all natural competitors), all of the positive people. Also, winning my WNBF Pro Card was something that I would have never expected to win. It still feels surreal and it motivates me to push harder and improve myself.
What is your most surprising moment competing so far?
The most surprising moment was when I won my Pro Card at the Muscle Mayhem. Being from Canada I looked for the best show I could find (which was the mayhem) to compete with the best and I never thought I had a chance of winning. I just wanted the opportunity to be able to compete alongside the best and knowing so I would push myself as best as I could.
What was the best workout advice you received?
“Why do something if you don’t love it”
“Only you are the one that can make a change in your life”
What advice about fitness, health, etc. would you like to share with our readers?
Give yourself a chance, don’t hold your life back. If you are passionate about something chase it and make it a reality. Anything is attainable if you put in the work. Also, it is possible to do it naturally and healthy. Put in the work and the result will pay off, no need for shortcuts. Follow your passions and don’t be afraid to be judged!
What do you like most about the WNBF?
I love how rigorous/strict the drug testing is. They actually send the tests in to get evaluated, a true Natural federation. Along with that, all of the competitors are extremely friendly with such a strong positive environment at the shows. WNBF also acknowledges their athletes and more than just a business, but also a movement towards Natural Bodybuilding
Are you involved in any other parts of the sport? Training people? (Judging? Promoting?, etc.)
I am an Online Coach at PatrickMacinnis.com, just before I moved I was a Personal Trainer at the Canada Games Centre and currently in the process of completing my BS in Kinesiology. I have a ISSA-CPT Certificate. I would also like to become more involved in the sport if I find opportunity to do. I am passionate for Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness and want to help expand and help it reach more mainstream and make people more aware it exists.
What are your 2016 competition goals? Long range goals?
I am currently prepping for the Washington State show in Seattle for my Men’s Physique Pro Debut. I am also hoping to make World’s in LA this year if everything works out for me. If I am unable to make Worlds this year I am hoping to compete at World’s for Men’s Physique with Jeff Nippard (he will do bodybuilding class) maybe 2017 or 2018. Eventually I do want to work towards my Pro Card in bodybuilding. But, Natural physique sports and natural fitness is a passion so I enjoy the entire process. Training, nutrition, offseason, prepping etc.
15. What does being a WNBF pro/amateur competitor mean to you?
It literally means everything to me. I revolve my life around natural fitness. I train everyday, I am an Online Coach, Certified Personal trainer, continuously studying and learning about it. It is more than just an organization but, a team or family where Natural Competitors can have a chance to compete on the same playing level alongside each other and knowingly it will be fairly judged.
• Exercise? I have a hate love relationship with Squats but, lately I been really enjoying training shoulders
• Cardio? I usually like to play recreational sports such as basketball but, if I don’t have a chance to play I recently been using the Stairmill more often.
• Body Part (Yours)? Personally I know I am able to improve physically on every aspect of my body but, if I were to chose one I would say abdominals
• “Diet” Food? My favourite diet food is Plain Greek Yogurt and Strawberries
• Non-Diet Food? Ice Cream, Donuts, Baked Goods.
• Non-Workout Activity(ies)? I like to play basketball and football recreationally. I like trying new foods and travelling.
