The WNBF is excited to bring the World Championships back out West for the second time since our inception in 1989! The 2016 World’s was a huge success for many in the western states, as well as for the federation.
The INBF/WNBF has had a strong hold in the East so it has always made sense to hold the WNBF Worlds there, yet with the growth over the past 4 years adding events in Hawaii, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Washington, and several in California we wanted to give these natural athletes an opportunity to step on this prestigious stage close to home.
Centinela Valley Center for the Arts
The Worlds venue will again be the beautiful Centinela Valley Center for the Arts near Redondo Beach. With 3 outstanding host hotels providing kitchens, outdoor BBQ’s, food to order, and many other amenities, the athletes can reach for flipflops on showday and make an easy 2 block walk to compete. While enjoying the sunshine, there are so many great attractions close to the hotels as well.
The amazing 100 year old Santa Monica Pier has an amusement park, Ferris wheel, lots of beach space, and great after show treats that all competitors will love. Muscle Beach at Venice Beach is of course the destination so many enjoyed last year. From old time weight lifters to natural teen bodybuilding enthusiasts, Muscle Beach has and always will be iconic for our sport.
Iconic Local Attractions
Another piece of LA that Worlds competitors will enjoy is training at Golds Gym Venice: the Mecca of Bodybuilding! Several US athletes and international teams enjoyed meeting many notable bodybuilders at GOLDS, and Gabriele Tampellini of NBFI Italy was lucky enough to snap a selfie with the man himself. Arnold knows the WNBF!
“What are you going to do after Worlds? I’m going to Disneyland!” The greatest amusement park in the state of California is definitely the original Disneyland, and this is less than 30 miles from the hotels. A bit farther you’ll find Universal Studios, or Hollywood to the North, or maybe the exciting amusement parks east toward the inland empire. Take a surf lesson, roller skate or bike along the beach, the fun outdoor options are endless!
